One Dead After Motorcycle Hits Vehicle

Huntington, IN (September 13, 2021) - The Huntington Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that left one person dead on Sunday night.

Just before 10:30 p.m., Huntington police responded to an accident near the intersection of U.S. 24 W and North Jefferson Street after being notified by an off duty Columbia City police officer.
 


Police determined a motorcycle had struck a vehicle and immediately began rendering aid to the victim. A short time later, medical personnel declared the victim deceased. The victim’s identity will not be revealed until family are notified.

It is unknown what caused the crash, or whether the other driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. The condition of the other driver was not shared. This accident is still under investigation by Huntington police.

Motorcyclist Killed in Madison County Crash

Anderson, IN (September 6, 2021) - The Madison County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene of an accident that took the life of a motorcyclist Monday afternoon. According to a brief news release, the crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck and happened at the intersection of Indiana 9 and County Road 1100 South.
 


Witnesses said the motorcyclist, riding a 2000 Yamaha MC southbound on Indiana 9, attempted to pass a pickup truck — also headed south and pulling a smaller vehicle — as the truck was turning east onto County Road 1100 South, according to police. The motorcycle collided with the left rear quarter of the pickup, then slid off the north side of County Road 1100 South, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. A representative from the Madison County coroner’s office was en route to the accident location. The driver of the pickup, Matthew Sarten, 25, of Fortville, was unhurt, as was a passenger in the automobile he was pulling, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.

Female Motorcyclist Dies in Crash

Elkhart, IN (September 2, 2021) - One person has died following a crash involving two motorcycles and a vehicle, the Elkhart Police Department reported. At 2:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of South Main Street and the U.S. 20 Bypass for reports of a motor vehicle crash.

An initial investigation said that the vehicle was northbound on South Main Street, turning left to go east on the U.S. 20 Bypass. As the vehicle made the turn, it collided with two motorcycles that were traveling southbound on South Main Street, reports said.
 


The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was not injured in the crash. The operator of the first motorcycle, a 53-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital and later died from her injuries.

The operator of the second motorcycle, a 53-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This crash remains under investigation.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Southern Indiana

Clarksville, IN (September 1, 2021) - A portion of Interstate 265 was closed in southern Indiana due to a fatal crash. Indiana State Police reported the crash just before 3:00 p.m. today. They said it involved a motorcycle and a truck.
 


It happened in the area of I-265 at I-65 in Clarksville, and the westbound lanes of I-265 are closed. ISP said they are diverting traffic onto northbound I-65. No details about the fatality were immediately available.
