Motorcyclist dead after crash in Bloomington

Bloomington, IN (March 14, 2025) - Police responded to a crash that left a motorcyclist dead on March 13 in Bloomington. Officers with the Indiana University Police Department were called on March 13 around 9:40 a.m. to IN 45 /46 Bypass and 17th Street in response to reports that a SUV failed to yield while turning left at the intersection.

Kevin Jones, of Bloomington, Indiana, age 41, was transported to the nearby IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to the Monroe County coroner’s office.

An accident report said Jones was riding his motorcycle southbound on the Ind. 45/46 Bypass. The 71-year-old Nissan Rogue driver, who was traveling north, turned left onto 17th Street, causing Jones to collide with the right side of the SUV.

IUPD said the SUV driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement. The driver was cited with failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The obituary for Kevin Jones is listed below.
