Motorcyclist Killed in Crash With SUV

Noblesville, IN (June 6, 2021) - A Cicero man is dead and a Cicero woman is in the hospital after their motorcycle collided with an SUV Saturday night in Noblesville. According to Lt. Bruce Barnes of the Noblesville Police Department, the crash happened around 9:12 p.m. at the intersection of Boden Road and 146th Street.

Crash investigators believe a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 65-year-old Noblesville woman was northbound on Boden Road and preparing to turn left onto 146th Street.

Witnesses said the driver of the Equinox turned into the path of a southbound 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Matthew D. Cooper, 37, of Cicero. Cooper and his passenger were thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the crash.

Barnes said Matthew Cooper was taken to Indiana University Health Saxony Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead a short time later. The motorcycle passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was not hurt.

Barnes said the intersection was restricted for more than three hours as police worked in the area. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol, drugs or weather played a role in the crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
