The crash involved a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle and a 2017 Jeep Patriot. The Jeep was traveling northbound on Mt. Comfort Road, and the motorcycle was traveling southbound, Capt. Robert Harris of the Sheriff’s Department said. Evidence at the scene indicates the Jeep turned into the path of the motorcycle.
The drivers were the only people involved in the crash. The juvenile driver of the Jeep was not injured and has cooperated with police, submitting to a chemical test due to the serious nature of the crash, Harris said.
The name of the driver of the Jeep is not being released since the person is a juvenile. Officers are working to identify the motorcyclist and notify his family. His name will be released after his identity is confirmed and family has been notified of his condition. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor, but the investigation is ongoing.
