Stacy Collins, 44, Logansport, Indiana was pronounced dead at the scene, said White County Sheriff Bill Brooks. Collins was the passenger on a motorcycle driven by her husband, Brandon Collins, who was taken to Indiana University Health White Memorial Hospital.
Brooks stated did not know the man’s condition as of Wednesday but said that he believed the injuries were not life-threatening.
The accident happened about 9:07 p.m. between the motorcycle and a black 2015 Buick at the intersection of Northwest Shafer Drive and County Road 225 North, Brooks said.
Jhoanna Gonzales, 26, was driving the Buick east on 225 North and was behind a red car that stopped at the stop sign and turned right. Gonzales approached the stop sign to turn left and failed to yield to the southbound motorcycle as he turned on to Northwest Shafer.
The motorcycle then hit the car as Gonzales was turning, Brooks said. Gonzales has been cited for not having insurance and for failure to yield.
The car is owned by Gonzales’ passenger at the time, Jalen R. West, 26.
Brooks said his department has not yet determined whether controlled substances were involved and the accident is still under investigation.
