First responders arrived to find a man down in the roadway. Officers and medics attempted life-saving measures, and the motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital, where he ultimately died.
He was identified later Monday as 31-year-old Brian K. Jewell of Fort Wayne. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said Jewell died of multiple blunt force injuries.
Police said in a news release that the motorcycle was headed west on State when he swerved to avoid an eastbound SUV that was turning into a Dana lot. In the process of swerving, the motorcycle grazed the rear corner of the SUV then side-swiped an eastbound sedan, and he was thrown from the motorcycle.
